Husband dies leaving his wife, two children and assets in the UAE. His wife is unable to get access to her deceased husband’s bank account. She is also concerned about her two children who are minors.

When an individual dies owning assets in the UAE, such assets are frozen as soon as the asset provider has been notified of the death of the owner. This means that the deceased’s family including the spouse will not be able to access the assets until the local Court has issued a formal order naming the entitled heirs. The deceased’s wife in this case will need to make an application to the local Court for such an order and at the same time apply for guardianship order for the minor children.
