Registration of Co-Occupants Across Properties in Dubai

On Friday 23 September 2022 the Dubai Land Department (DLD) issued a circular, notifying all property owners, developers, property management companies as well as tenants listed on the Ejari, that they have two weeks, with immediate effect in which to register all co-occupants living at a property in Dubai with the DLD.

This is part of the DLD’s ‘’efforts to provide the highest standards of quality of life and enhance the health and safety standards in the existing buildings’’ across Dubai. 

Registration was initially set to include providing each occupant's personal information including full name, date of birth and a copy of their Emirates ID.

However, a further update was received from Dubai Land Department on Friday 7 October which stated the following “As part of Dubai Land Department’s efforts to provide the highest standards of quality of life and enhance the health and safety standards in existing buildings, we would like to inform you that the number of occupants within a rented property must be declared in the system; all other personal data is optional”. 

The registration process remains the same and can be completed on the Dubai Rest App. It is worth noting that, while providing full identification details for each occupant is no longer a requirement, should you decide to register such information, all occupants will automatically be updated on the tenancy contract. Consequently, this will enable each occupant at a property to use an Ejari contract as proof of address.
